RTÉ ‘rehashes’ leave Red Rock boss cold

Guiney says broadcaster must remain relevant

It is “deeply depressing” that RTÉ buys in TV formats from abroad that are a “rehash” of what is done in other countries, according to Ed Guiney of Element Pictures.

Guiney, whose company has worked on The Wind that Shakes the Barley, the Oscar-winning Room and TV3’s Red Rock, said RTÉ makes “very, very little” of its own content.
