It’s hard to ignore a sum like €172 billion. That’s the size of the largest ‘Irish’ deal during 2015 – the Pfizer acquisition of Irish domiciled Allergan. The tie-up made headlines around the world, predictably shaking loose more indignation from US politicians, eager for a soundbite as that country slowly makes its way towards polling day in the presidential election.
