Thousands of Irish people are in the “last chance saloon” over their offshore assets, according to Revenue commissioner Gerry Harrahill.

The surge in people reporting could produce a tax yield of around €30 million - and possibly much more, Harahill said.

Revenue has contacted half a million Irish taxpayers to encourage them to declare any foreign assets - whether bank accounts, property, or pensions - and to make a voluntary declaration on any...
