Private equity firms step up efforts to buy Corrib gas field

Bid team is in ongoing contact with Shell

A consortium of private equity houses has recruited a management team composed of Shell executives as part of its efforts to buy the multibillion euro valued gas field off the Mayo coast.

It is understood that the bid team, comprising up to four private equity firms, is in ongoing contact with Shell, despite an initially unsuccessful bid being lodged before Christmas.
