Gambling in the US: massive potential for Flutter after the Paddy Power Betfair-owner merged with The Stars Group

The first whisper that Flutter was on the verge of something big was in July when its share price mysteriously shot up by more than 10 per cent.

The Paddy Power-Betfair owner claimed to have no knowledge of the cause of the spike at the time but the rumour was that the group was about to agree a merger that would make it an odds-on shot to prosper in the emerging United States market.
