Plan under way to protect SMEs from vulture funds

The government is in advanced negotiations with Brussels over a new plan to help protect SMEs from vulture funds, with the deliberations centring around potential state aid issues.

Officials from the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation are engaged with the competition directorate of the European Commission over the plan, which would help SME customers refinance their loans with other domestic banks.
