Workers wearing onion garlands and members of the Congress party hit the streets of New Delhi to protest over the price of the vegetable, which has risen by 45 per cent in the space of a week.

Opposition politicians in India’s second-biggest city accused the ruling Aam Aadmi party of creating a crisis by “conniving with wholesale onion dealers so that they could mint tens of millions of rupees by selling it in [the] black market”....
