Over €1m spent on Facebook ads during abortion referendum
More than €1 million was spent on Facebook advertising by campaigners during the abortion referendum before it banned foreign ads, the social media giant has revealed.
A total of $1.3 million was spent by 300 Irish groups. A further $100,000 was spent by 50 foreign groups to target voters ahead of the May 2018 vote on repealing the Eighth Amendment.
