IDA figures reveal over 187,000 now work for overseas companies

A record number of people in Ireland are now employed by a foreign multinational – the highest in the IDA's 67 year history.

In its annual statement, IDA Ireland – the government agency responsible for attracting foreign direct investment (FDI) – has revealed total employment with overseas companies now stands at 187,056.

The IDA estimates that for every 10 jobs generated by FDI, another seven are generated in the wider economy – translating into 318,000 jobs or...
