What were the odds of Irish horseracing abandoning its long association with the TV channel? Still, if nothing else, it might get us back to the actual racecourse
On the eve of the first Dublin Racing Festival last weekend, a bombshell was dropped on the sport.
It was announced that British channel At The Races, which has long been associated with the Irish racing scene, would lose media rights from 2019, with Racing UK taking over. Many fans were outraged – not least because the latter charges around €31 per month, while At The Races had been free as part of basic Sky packages.
