MapAlerter secures multiple local authority contracts whilst Antrim based company Abbey Upholsterers are set to create 15 new jobs this year

Eleven local authorities around the country have signed up to MapAlerter, the extreme weather system developed by a former Kilkenny County Council digital mapping expert.

“Our service was initially deployed during 2011 in response to a harsh spell of weather,” said Mapalerter founder Brendan Cunningham.

“Wexford County Council was the early adopter for the fledgling system and several other local authorities followed suit soon after.”
