Monaghan Mushrooms in €2.8m energy deal

Food grower Monaghan Mushrooms has agreed a two-year contract with green energy company Vayu worth €2.8 million.

The company has secured membership of the Bord Bia sustainability programme Origin Green, having invested €720,000 in energy efficient transport and technology.

As part of a sustainability strategy introduced a decade ago, the firm has acquired a fleet of low-emission lorries and a computerised system to promote efficient driving.
