Minister for Finance Michael Noonan has met the Barclays and Lloyds-backed British Growth Fund (BGF) to explore solutions for our credit-starved SME sector.

With £1 billion (€1.16 billion) under investment in small and medium businesses, BGF is run by former JP Morgan and Barclays private equity executive Stephen Welton, and is considering investment prospects in Ireland.

It was set up in 2011 by the major British banks and the British government to invest in SMEs...
