Merger of brewing giants will result in 5,000 redundancies

Budweisers parent company says the layoffs will occur over three years

The merger of Anheuser-Busch InBev and SABMiller to create a brewing giant will result in the loss of about 5,000, according to shareholder documents published on Friday.

“AB InBev currently expects an overall potential job reduction of approximately 3 per cent of the total workforce of the combined group. It is anticipated that these job reductions will be implemented gradually, in phases, over a three-year period following completion.”
