Merenda carves out niche in furniture

Leitrim company employs 20 people, and sells to Britain, the US, New Zealand and to six countries in the Middle East

Leitrim company Merenda has carved out a solid niche in the furniture industry over 30 years, as the only edgebanding manufacturer in Britain and Ireland.

Edgebanding is used in furniture-making and interior fit-outs to disguise the visible edges of layered veneers using thin wood or plastic strips.

The Manorhamilton company also makes dyed and flexible wrapping veneers. It employs 20 people.
