Meat and dairy sector aims to close ‘information gap’

The industry is funding a social media campaign to make its case as climate change fears prompt many consumers to cut back

The timing was less than optimum: just a few hours before the country’s meat and dairy heavy hitters were due to launch a campaign to woo back consumers, news broke that Ireland had missed its greenhouse gas emissions targets for the third year running.

The main culprit? Agriculture, which was responsible for 20.6 million of the 60.5 million tonnes of emissions produced here last year.
