McCourt and partner to split control of rural broadband firm

Upfront equity of €175 million being provided entirely by Walter Scott Jr’s Tetrad Corporation; Government to probe financial standing of bidder

US businessmen David McCourt and Walter Scott Jr will share ultimate ownership of the firm set up to deliver the €6 billion National Broadband Plan.

The government this month announced National Broadband Ireland (NBI) as the preferred bidder for the controversial rural internet scheme.

A holding company wholly owned by Granahan McCourt Dublin (Ireland) has been established to sit above NBI.
