Lisbon played host to last week’s Web Summit, marking the first time that the conference was held somewhere other than Dublin since it was founded in 2009.

News of its departure was met with alarm last year – and taken by many as a sign that the capital just wasn’t equipped to play host to an event so large that its crowd control was used as a marketing tactic.
