Lidl’s onward march: Bargain hunters love the retailer's leaflet deals

The discount shop is working on new channels and new-look stores to broaden its appeal

For bargain hunters, there is something addictive about the newspaper leaflets that detail Lidl’s latest offerings.

In its early days – Lidl has been in Ireland since 2000 – the discount retailer relied heavily on these leaflets as its main source of marketing. Customers loved them, according to Aoife Clarke, Lidl’s head of communications, who said they had a “cult following”.
