Bulat Utemuratov, Kazakhstan’s richest man, has emerged as the €65 million buyer of one of the most expensive houses ever sold by an Irish person.

The mansion known as Villa La Carriere was formerly owned by Dublin financier Derek Quinlan in Cap Ferrat in the French Riviera.

Quinlan sold the building which has waterfront access, putting greens and a swimming pool in July 2011 to a French limited company.
