Is rent support likely to be the next employee benefit?

With IDA companies coming to Ireland, there isn’t just the question of talent availability, but where to house that talent. Following the call by London’s mayor Sadiq Khan for companies to help staff with housing costs, is it time that Irish companies followed suit?

A perusal of ads for properties to rent in the greater Dublin area makes for stark reading.

Renting a two-bed apartment in a sought-after part of the city would leave you with little change from €2,000 per month. And one-beds under €1,000 per month in the capital don’t exist, according to figures from property website daft.ie.
