Irish banking sector needs more competition

Bank customers also need to start voting with their feet

Irish banking needs a far more diverse eco-system according to Derek Butler, chief executive of GRID Finance.

According to Butler, while Ireland's banking industry has stabilised since the crisis, there remain significant challenges in the industry. One of those challenges is the significant decrease in competition in Irish retail banking, he said.
