Ireland’s Michael O’Reilly last night was at the centre of the first doping scandal of the 2016 Olympics. He is, however, not the first athlete to cause Ireland embarrassment on the world stage.
A large volume of doping data leaked in 2013 showed that between 2001 and 2011, Irish athletes had produced around 300 samples "highly suggestive of blood doping".
