Ireland defends ’90s Apple tax deal

Ireland has escalated its defence against Europe’s ongoing investigation into the state’s tax arrangement with Apple, with the government lodging a formal response to the anti-trust allegations.

The response, which is highly confidential, addresses in detail the concerns raised by the European Commission’s competition wing, and also outlines what Dublin believes are a number of misunderstandings in the commission’s position.
