Insurers claim refunds from Mater Private Hospital

A number of health insurers have sought multimillion euro refunds from the Mater Private Hospital in Dublin.

The Sunday Business Post understands the VHI discovered it had been overcharged by up to €5 million. This was referenced by former health minister James Reilly in the Dáil in December 2013, although he did not name the hospital at that time.
