The head of the country’s largest business lobby has launched an unprecedented attack on the election promises made by the main political parties as the country moves closer to polling day.

Danny McCoy, chief executive of Ibec, described some of the policies as “insidious”, saying that their tax policies were designed “not to collect revenue but to showboat and egregiously attack wealth creation”.
