Housing understandably gets plenty of mentions in the programme for government, which was unveiled last week. There’s quite a lot of sweeteners in it for all kinds of things, but where it gets fuzzy is on details and specific actions.

Possibly the biggest challenge in housing is the lack of new homes being built – even though there is a pent up level of demand. That lack of supply is causing societal problems...
