On the cusp of his 40th year working in Irish radio, Paul Byrne is preparing to walk away from the industry that has been his “life” since he started presenting pirate music and sports shows back in 1980.

The Radio Kerry chief executive will step down at the end of the year and plans to pursue opportunities that will be “non-media related”. The move follows Byrne’s induction into the Irish Music Rights Organisation (IMRO)...
