Matthew Nevin and Ciara Scanlan established The Mart in 2006 in the south Dublin suburb of Rathmines. A not-for-profit arts organisation, The Mart has organised events and exhibitions for 300 artists in Ireland, Britain, Central and Eastern Europe, North America and Japan. In September 2013, The Mart opened the Martcade venue in Rathmines’ old fire station, with two galleries and eight studios. The pair have since added a further 20 studios, as well as an office and cafe.
