Hedge fund giant bets against CRH

The world’s biggest hedge fund manager has taken a €200 million bet against shares in Irish building materials giant CRH.

Bridgewater, which has more than $160 billion of assets under management and is run by investment guru Ray Dalio, has taken a short position of just under 1 per cent in CRH. Short-sellers profit by betting that share prices will decline.

CRH is Ireland’s biggest company with a value of more than €23 billion....
