The average premium for in-patient care is just shy of €1,200 per year, but consumers need to look beyond the price
Consumers are forking out an average of almost €100 per month for private health insurance, according to new figures.
Figures published last Wednesday by the Health Insurance Authority (HIA) revealed that the average amount paid annually for in-patient cover stands at €1,177. And, according to Central Statistics Office data, health insurance costs rose by 9.3 per cent in the year to the end of June.
