Health giant in talks about opening Cork cancer facility

University of Pittsburgh Medical Centre in talks with Bon Secours in Cork

The University of Pittsburgh Medical Centre (UPMC), the American non-profit healthcare giant, is in talks with Bon Secours in Cork about opening a new private cancer facility in the south.

UPMC is already involved in a successful cancer treatment joint venture with the Whitfield hospital in the south east.

It also previously owned the Beacon Hospital before business mogul Denis O’Brien took control of the south Dublin hospital.
