Fresenius, the €34 billion German healthcare giant, is on the cusp of sealing a deal to acquire the Mater Private healthcare group from majority owner CapVest and the group’s management and staff.

Fresenius, a publicly quoted firm with almost 70,000 staff, is set to pay in the region of €500 million for the group.
