French warship builder backs OpenHydro

OpenHydro, the Irish tidal energy company, has secured new financial backing worth tens of millions of euro from French warship builder DCNS.

The funding will finance the Louth-located company until it becomes profit making, according to new chief executive, Thierry Kalanquin.

“We have a project called DCNS Energy, a specific company for marine energy within DCNS. The funding will come through this company to OpenHydro,” he said.
