A Tipperary butcher whose beef dripping beat 10,000 food products from Britain and Ireland at a major awards ceremony last week has received calls from as far afield as Qatar from retailers keen to stock his range.

Pat Whelan, a fifth-generation butcher from Clonmel, was named supreme champion at the Great Taste Awards in London.
