€15 million potential funding gap at Galway 2020

An internal briefing note prepared for Minister for Arts Josepha Madigan said that Galway 2020 organisers advised that they may not reach their €46 million funding target

The organisers of Galway 2020 raised the likelihood of a substantial funding gap several months ago, documents disclose.

An internal briefing note prepared for Minister for Arts Josepha Madigan said that Galway 2020 organisers advised that they may not reach their €46 million funding target.

An expenditure review by the Oireachtas joint committee in September confirmed this, saying that the organisers “have recently indicated that they will not reach this [€46 million] target”.
