Equity giant Lone Star makes play for Project Redwood

US private equity giant Lone Star has reignited its interest in the Irish market with a bid for a €2 billion book of toxic loans known as Project Redwood.

The fund, which is led by Irish American billionaire John Grayken, was among the first and most enthusiastic buyers of soured Irish loan books, but its profile in Ireland had lowered as it focused on selling down some of its purchases and bidding on smaller assets.
