Any worker who claims to have suffered penalisation or detriment as a result of making a protected disclosure can potentially avail of the full protections and remedies of the act.
These include interim relief from dismissal from the Circuit Court, and compensation of up to five years remuneration while still in employment.
In unfair dismissal cases, the maximum award increases from two to five years remuneration.
