Employment matters: Protected Disclosures Act 2014

Employers need to ensure that they have a policy in place on protected disclosures, helping to protect the company and its employees

Following on from the first successful protected disclosure decision at the Labour Court, it is now more important that employers are aware of their obligations under this legislation.

In one recent case, an employee at a nursing home was awarded €17,500 under the Protected Disclosures Act 2014 for penalisation she suffered as a result of disclosing information regarding the alleged abuse of patients.
