Dip in sales for Diageo

✽ Drinks giant Diageo, the owner of Guinness, last week reported weaker than expected sales figures.

In the three months to the end of March, net sales were down by 0.7 per cent. According to Ivan Menezes, Diageo’s chief executive, the performance “reflects continued tough conditions in the emerging markets and subdued consumer demand in some developed markets”.
