Irish energy conglomerate DCC has “plenty of capacity to spend money” and an abundance of targets, according to its chief executive Tommy Breen.

Breen believes, as do many of the equity analysts who study the company, that there is more spending to come.

Breen, however, baulked at the suggestion put forward by Goldman Sachs last month that the company could easily afford to spend £1 billion on acquisitions over the next two years...
