Davy is still in the hunt to acquire longtime rival Goodbody as the race to acquire the country’s second-biggest stockbrokers intensifies.

Market sources said competition grounds would not be enough to derail Davy’s bid to buy Goodbody, even though it would mean the market for the vast majority of Irish-listed stocks would be controlled by one firm as would the mandate to advise all of Ireland’s biggest companies.
