Conor Brophy: Trust in the media is at its worst in Ireland for 17 years

That’s lower than Britain where people are supposedly fed up with so-called experts

The 2017 edition of the annual Edelman Trust Barometer finds that trust in the media has “plunged to all-time lows”.

“All-time” here means in the history of the trust barometer itself, which goes back 17 years.

The barometer is based on online surveys conducted in October and November last year. In Ireland, 1,150 people answered the questions with quotas set on the basis of age, gender and religion for what the barometer calls...
