This month, mobile operator Three will offer its British customers the option of participating in a 24-hour ad blocking trial. It has been talking about doing this for some time. Its ultimate owner, Hong Kong-based businessman Li Ka Shing, is an investor in an Israeli firm called Shine Technologies. Shine’s ad-blocking software is used by a number of network operators, including Denis O’Brien’s Digicel.
