The Magic Kingdom has finally come to the Middle Kingdom. The news was understandably overshadowed by the death of poor Lane Graves, the two-year-old boy killed in an alligator attack at Walt Disney World in Florida, but Disney has just opened its first resort in mainland China.

The Shanghai theme park represents one of the largest foreign investment projects in Chinese history. It took five years to build and cost $5.5 billion.
