When the government announced this week that instead of rolling out an all-Ireland broadband it will put it out for private investors to build, it rocked the cages of rural businesses into a frenzy.

In a Dáil debate this week, Independent TD Mattie McGrath kicked to touch the proposal. He said that people living in rural Ireland are being treated unequally.
