RTÉ has pledged for years to give more money to independent producers if a broadcasting charge or some other form of funding for the broadcaster is introduced. Change is moving at a glacial pace in that regard, but Irish animation companies are now looking elsewhere to get their work financed, with streaming platforms opening up a huge revenue stream for them.
