Coillte, the state’s forestry landlord, has held preliminary talks with private sector players over an equity injection in its energy business worth hundreds of millions of euro.

It is understood exploratory discussions have been held with a range of private equity and other potential financing partners, with the company likely to start a formal process before the end of the year.
