Cityjet to double its fleet in funding deal with UK firm

Pat Byrne says he made a return to the Swords-based airline to spearhead ambitious new strategy

Byrne returned seven months ago to the Swords, Co Dublin headquartered airline he founded in 1993 to lead a new strategy.

Within weeks Cityjet will announce a new aircraft deal and a big contract that will see it fly regional routes for a major European airline, Byrne told this newspaper.

The airline, which employs 500 people, has struck an innovative partnership with British aviation leasing firm Falko to invest an undisclosed amount in the airline.
