CityJet aims to gain altitude with Spanish airline tie-up

Regional operator aiming for turnover of close to €1 billion; new holding company to have combined fleet of 100 aircraft

CityJet chief executive Pat Byrne says its tie-up with Spanish regional airline Air Nostrum, announced last week, is aiming for a turnover of close to €1 billion over the next two to three years.

He also expects to add up to 60 new aircraft as the bigger European airlines continue the trend of outsourcing their regional services to ‘wet lease’ operators, which provide the aircraft, crew and maintenance services.
